What is Draw Hi-Lo?
Draw Hi-Lo is a card game that is typically played with two to eight players. The aim of the game is to be the first player to reach a score of exactly 61, or "go out". The player who goes out first wins the game.
The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Aces are worth 1 point, 2s through 10s are worth face value, and a Jack, Queen or King (J,Q,K) are each worth 10 points. After the player has been dealt their hand, they must choose two cards to discard. These two cards will not be used in the player's hand. The player then draws two cards from the deck to replace the ones they just discarded.
Play then proceeds clockwise around the table and each player must play one card per turn. Cards of the same rank as the playing card cancel each other out (e.g. if an Ace is played, any other Ace in that player's hand cancels it out). The highest card played (e.g. a 2 beats a 1) takes the trick and points are scored accordingly - for example, if two 4s are played, the first 4 takes the trick and scores 4 points, while the second 4 scores nothing. After all players have played one card, the next player in turn then becomes active and repeats the process until either someone reaches 61 points or there are not enough cards left in the deck to continue play. In this latter case, whoever has the highest card in their hand at that point is awarded an extra point and play restarts from scratch with a new dealer.
How to Play:
To begin, each player is dealt five cards from a standard deck of 52 playing cards (Aces=1 point; 2-10=face value; J,Q,K=10 points). The remaining cards are placed face down in the middle of all players to form a Stock pile . One at a time , beginning with eldest hand and proceeding clockwise around table , each player must put one card on top of previous trick UNLESS following rules apply:
AFter You place your card on original "trick", Pick up last TWO CARDS you just played From original Trick.(normal sequence continue) So no picking up tricks UNLESS you can go out by playing those last two cards! As Always if you cannot play another card-- PASS
The aim of Pick Two is to get rid of all your cards as quickly as possible . This can be done by either playing all your cards one after another—known as going "out"—or alternatively by using them to take tricks along with other players' cards .Whenever you put down a card during Pick Two it must always be followed by picking up DOUBLE that number of cards from where your previously dropped offcard was taken from ! So for example , if you put down an ace (1), you would then pick up 2 more cards from where your ace was initially taken from! If at any time you cannot play another card—due to having no matching suits or running out of playable cards—you simply pass until it becomes your turn again .When somebody eventually reaches 61 points or gets all their 7 playablecards knocked out--they go OUT! Whoever has second most amountofpoints win!
To begin gameplay , Dealer will give 5cards face down clockwise around table--then flips over firstcard for everyone else's initial "suit". Next dealer flips over topcardofdeck also known as "the starter" which everyonemustplay simultaneously if can beat starter u can takesthestarter plus currentpointvalue onthatcard(face value)--ifcannot beat starter thancurrentplayermustputdownacardandtake2cardsfrompile&proceedtosinglestepabove;continueplayinthisway.(Aces=1point;2-10=face value;J,Q,K=10points)--Cardsofsame rankasplayingcardcanceleachotherout.(e.g.ifanAceisplayed,anyotheraceinplayer'shandcancelsitout)--Highestplayedcardtakestract(e.g.2beat1)--Whoevergoesouthroneachroundgetsoneextrapoint addedtostate total--Firstplayerto61wins!

Increase your bankroll with a few simple tips for playing Draw Hi-Lo!
Making the transition from beginner to intermediate player in Draw Hi-Lo can be difficult, but with a few simple tips, you can up your bankroll and start playing like a pro. In this article, we will cover the basics of the game and offer some advice on how to play at a higher level.
1 Learn the basic hand rankings
The first step to becoming an intermediate player is learning the basic hand rankings. In Draw Hi-Lo, there are two types of hands - high cards and low cards. The hand with the highest card wins the high hand, while the hand with the lowest card wins the low hand. There are also five different suits in the game, which rank from highest to lowest as follows: spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs, hearts (flush).
Here are some basic tips for playing high hands:
-
Always aim to have the highest possible card in your hand. This gives you the best chance of winning the high side of the pot.
-
If you have two pairs or three of a kind, try to keep one of each rank so you have a better chance of winning both parts of the pot.
-
If all your cards are low ranking (2s through 4s), try to stay in until you get a better hand or until someone else busts. This will increase your chances of winning the low side of the pot.
And here are a few tips for playing low hands:
-
Try not to pair your card if possible - this will give you a better chance of winning the low side of the pot.
-
Keep an eye out for flushes and straights as these hands will give you a big advantage over other players in the low side of the pot.
